this week was our back to school welcome breakfast. it was extra celebratory because our school went from a 'B' grade to an 'A'. (points earned from standardized testing)
I have to say that it was lovely to see everyone so fresh and so clean, clean. I actually enjoyed myself! going back this year seems so different on so many levels...shifts in relationships, a newly painted room! omg i spent almost 9 hours painting my room by myself. the only help i had was the sweetest little 10 year old boy taking the painter's tape from the base boards (never mind the grumblings of having to bend over to accomplish this) (promises of watermelon chewing gum cleared that right up!)...and handing me my "oops!" rag. it was definitely worth it... and everyone loves the bright happiness it brings.
i love how teaching gives the opportunity of feeling renewed. Every year is a chance for a new beginning...a fresh start...and i'm loving it now like i never have before. it compliments my personality beautifully.
how do people work at the same job for 12 months a year???
i've always said, 'oh i love being a teacher, but i dont want to be a teacher for 20+ years...blah blah blah" but why the hell not?!?!? summer vacations?!?! the best schedule ever?!? every holiday paid for and off?? medical insurance? etc, etc, etc... never mind that i adore the students and have fun working.
hmmm..i might just stay awhile.
